[in which the rich brat has to work for the first time in his life, probably]
Trip's sticking up flyers, apparently, as well as handing some out, advertising an odd assortment of skills, but he's also acting a bit shifty and has his hoodie up, like he doesn't want to be recognized.
"For hire.
Skills: photography, tracking, exorcism.
Prices negotiable."
Followed by some contact details.
Somebody has been too much of a spendthrift without regard for the future, refused to downgrade from his prior standard of accommodations (read: kept staying at expensive hotels), and hasn't made enough in winnings to support himself, so.

That's a varied set of skills. Sounds like you've been doing a lot of things, huh?
no subject
... yeah. I'm not a professional photographer, but I'm good at it. I can take clear shots even of a moving target. Mid-battle ones. I can track pretty well, so if you want to find something or someone...

"Exorcism? Like ghost hunting or something?" he questioned.
His Pikachu leaned close to the flyer and sniffed on it curiously.
no subject
(Okay, given that they laughed again just seeing him, maybe that was still worse.)
Ash wouldn't laugh at him, he's not that kind of guy, but... he was awful to him and acted conceited... and anyway, being seen by someone who challenged the league with him, who he already lost to...
Trip turned away very obviously, tugging his hoodie closer to his face.
Initially, too scared to speak, then, poorly disguised voice it is! Trying to pitch it lower
since Ash heard it high too, oops."Like that... but no, more like... getting rid of malevolent spirits. Burning them away, sending them to the spirit world, that sort of thing. My Pokemon can do that."
Did he need help or was he just curious? Please go away soon, Ash.

Pikachu on the other hand stared intently at Trip.
2/2
Color Ash's interest piqued. He had encountered some paranormal activity in his adventures, but most of the time it involved Ghost-type Pokemon just being playful around anyone they meet. But having Pokemon to help put restless spirits at ease... that's something you don't see everyday!
"Hey, is it okay if I join you?" There's an eagerness in his request. "I wanna see how that's done!"
[1/2; Ash not recognizing people because they changed 1 thing about their appearance is a blessing]
[2/2; and then, there's the fact that Ash might recognize a familiar Pokemon more easily, oops]
He selected a pokeball.
"It really is mostly Lampent's doing the work, since I can't see them myself. I just follow Lampent's lead. ... I'll still ask you to pay, though. Come out, Lampent."
In a flash of white light, Lampent emerged, its purple flame significantly smaller than usual...
Well, if the grey pants and purple-tinted black hoodie (presently obscuring most of his head) didn't give him away, the Lampent might just cinch it!
At least for Pikachu.1/2 you get a D for stealth, trip
However he was a bit taken aback when he heard he has to pay a fee despite just, wanting to follow him around. After looking at the flyer on his hand, Ash took a moment to realize what he requested for may have been taken as a service for Trip. Ah... Hmm...

"Huh... you can get money like this?" Gold muses. It's unclear if he's talking to himself or Trip.
no subject
Why do you have to sneak up on people like that?! There’s so many other flyers to read, Gold!
He ducked and side-scuttled his way out of there to reclaim some personal space, thank you.
“They all say the same thing, you know...”
He still had a bit of an attitude, even in this situation, yes, although he quickly looked penitent, wondering if such behaviour might scare off a potential customer/employer.
Gold wasn’t someone Trip recognized, so he didn’t immediately raise the hoodie after the brisk motion knocked it down. Same haircut, same grey eyes (just a bit narrower and lacking that sparkling, wide-eyed wonder), and same penchant for hoodies. But it could be a coincidence, right?
no subject
"Really? I can't read," Gold blatantly lies, completely straight-faced, looking Trip in the eyes.
Huh, wait, those eyes. Gold's eyes widen a little in surprise as he notices the resemblance, looking over the stranger's face and hair. He looks so similar. Alternate version? But the last time he assumed that about someone, he turned out to be a brother instead. Maybe this is somebody related to little Trip.
"Hey, you know anybody named Trip?" he asks.
1/2
He didn’t like being made a fool of! He looked very annoyed when he realized it.
no subject
Trip turned very pink and tugged the sides of the hoodie. Today’s just getting worse…
Was he mocking him? Play it cool, maybe Gold really didn’t know it was him? It certainly would be something if he was asked to track himself down.
“I might. Why do you ask?”
If Gold’s messing with him, then Trip can do the same thing.
(no subject)
[it's sweet how easily Gold read him, Trip's still convinced he's being low-key, ffff]

"For hire. Skills photography, tracking, exorcism. Prices negotiable." He's staring so intently at the flyer almost as if he was considering the contents of the poster before fully turning to face Trip. It's when he saw the younger trainer did he register him as the guy he had seen back during the festival.
Immediately Red's expression lit up before quickly he adjusted his cap, mostly to not make direct eye contact with Trip. He wasn't there to start a Pokemon battle, after all...!
[long time no see!!]
"Ulsai... don't I know you? You're... the one I met at the festival?"
The one who taught him to dance, right?
As he'd only encountered Red once before and knew him to be both very quiet, very patient, and not the sort to laugh at him, he didn't bother hiding from him. He saw him clumsily attempting to dance, so it's fine.
(ulsai~~! Gonna get in my activity on my day off hehe!)
...had he given his name to him back then? No, he was sure he hadn't. Gosh that wasn't exactly polite of him was it?
Red will hold his hand out for Trip to shake.
"....'m Red from Pallet Town. You?"
[good luck!!]
He wondered if caps and sneakers like that were popular in Pallet.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Red. My name’s Trip, if I forgot to say it then.”
Red’s older, so, he gets politely addressed, unless he insists on the contrary!
“Thank you for trying to teach me back then.”
It was… fun! He wanted to say, but it sounded childish, so he didn’t. He didn’t quite know what else to say. But he wanted to express his gratitude! He even bowed.
Maybe he had time to reflect on prior bad behaviour and general fussiness, or just not being grateful enough for the opportunity then? Either way, he’s appreciative now.
(Thank you!!)

When he spotted Trip, his expression lit up as he waved with both hands.
"Ulsai, Trip! What are you doing out here all on your own?" He rushed over clearly happy to have spotted a familiar face in town.
no subject
"U-ulsai, Mr. Larson..." he said, faltering a bit, then held out the flyer in lieu of an explanation.
no subject
"Goodness, Trip are you looking to make some money?" He's making sad Growlithe eyes at the younger trainer. "If you need a place to stay at, my home is open you know! I live at the Ranch-"
"Blissey!" Larson's Blissey spoke up while patting at his tote bag where his apron had been tucked in. Larson glanced at his bag, and then to Trip as a light bulb lit up.
"Oh Blissey, you're such a genius! Trip, why don't you work at the Cafe with me? Blissey and I can always use an extra hand!"
no subject
Trip looked hurt and massively insulted by the sad-eyed look, mistaking it for pity. He felt heat rise up in his face and raised his head indignantly... and instantly felt a pounding headache from the motion, ugh.
Before he could say anything, Blissey piped up with a suggestion.
Now, this? This was decent and honourable. Sure, a little... low-class, but it was still a job and not charity, so he could accept it much more readily. He didn't like the idea of possibly being recognized, but maybe he won't be so recognizable if he had a uniform? Maybe a hat...
"I'll take it! Thank you... thank you very much, Mr. Larson."
